Deliverance
from prosperity. Why this topic? Who would want to be delivered from prosperity?
Why would anyone want to be delivered
from prosperity?
I
was talking to my Pastor and he mentioned something that made me offended.
Something beautiful, something nice, but I was offended all the same. Not
offended as in angry, but offended in that I was threatened with a stumble. You
see, I do not handle praise well. When it comes to the things of God, it is
neither hypocrisy, nor self-effacing that I should be inconsequential and He
should be glorified. I am priviledged to be in His Sanctuary and my
relationship with him is my most prized possession. He is my Life.
I
understand that my fear of losing Him is a bad thing and perhaps a surefire way
of provoking that very circumstance so I pray He takes it over and I yield
myself to Him.
When
my Pastor said those words though, I was shaken to my marrow. I knew I was
tottering on a psychological brink, holding my relationship with God clasped tightly
in my embrace but threatened by my instability. I could lose it.
So
what is prosperity? For the purpose of this topic, it is not just wealth,
money, financial freedom and abundance but also anything that can make you at
ease, anything that has the power to make you relax, anything that can make you
so comfortable that you think you do not need God, you do not you need to
remember His ways or pay heed to His Words. Anything that makes you or has the
potential to make you leave God no matter how briefly or because you think you
do not need Him, is a prosperity.
Yes,
this includes financial freedom, money, wealth and the mentality of the same but
it also includes anything that gives ease, anything really that we should be
thankful to God for such as comfort, health, relationships and to cut it even
thinner- Intellect, Happiness, Praise, Fame/Recognition, Promotion… All these
and the like, whether we like it or not are prosperity because they place us in
a place of ease at that instant, in that time or in that area and we should be
thankful to God for them.
